Regrettably - and as Mort Subiet has mentioned:
"We are presently beginning to regret the future."
Strength and Honor one and all.....
Venceremos!

November Third (The Morning After)
"the following is a poem by Starhawk on the eve of the election. As it went yesterday, so it goes today. Don't give up the fight...... Char ~*

"We are on a good road—Yes!
We are on a road with heart
We are on a road of freedom
We are on a road of compassion
We are on a road of love

We are on a good road
We are on a road that leads to a green future
For these beautiful babies that we have named tonight
We are on a healing road
We are on a road of life
We are on a road of balance

We are on a good road
We are on a road of justice
We are on a road of courage
We are on a road of peace.

We are on a good road-Yes!

May it be so. Sleep well.

For all of us who are in midst of despair this morning after, here's a word from W.H. Auden (from the poem "September 1, 1939"):...... Eric
quote:
-----------------------------------------------------------
Defenceless under the night
Our world in stupor lies;
Yet, dotted everywhere,
Ironic points of light
Flash out wherever the Just
Exchange their messages;
May I, composed like them
Of Eros and of dust,
Beleaguered by the same
Negation and despair,
Show an affirming flame.

-- W. H. Auden

Quicksilver Messenger Service - "Pride of Man" (from the 60's)

Turn around, go back down, back the way you came
Can't you see that flash of fire
Ten times brighter than the day
And behold a mighty city broken in the dust again
Oh, God, pride of man broken in the dust again

Turn around, go back down, back the way you came
Babylon is laid to waste, Egypt's buried in her shame
The mighty men are all beaten down
Their kings are fallen in the waste
Oh, God, pride of man broken in the dust again

Turn around, go back down, back the way you came
Terror is on every side, lo our leaders are dismayed
For those who place their faith in fire
In fire their faith shall be repayed
Oh, God, pride of man broken in the dust again

Turn around, go back down, back the way you came
And shout a warnin' unto the nation that the sword of God is raised
Yes, Babylon, that mighty city, rich in treasure, wide in fame
Oh, God, pride of man broken in the dust again - yeah

Oh oh-oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

And it shall cause your tower to fall
Make of you a pyre of flame
Oh you, who dwell on many waters
Rich in treasure, wide in fame
You bow unto your, your God of gold
Your pride of might shall be your shame
For only God can lead his people
Back unto the earth again
Oh, God, pride of man broken in the dust again

A holy mountain be restored
Have mercy on the people - the people, Lord
Ah-ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah

The Hippie "Daze" were a time of awakening to the higher powers of Ourselves, the Earth, and our own Spiritual natures.
Peace........ Love ........ We believed in those things, tried to Be and Share those things, and somehow the multi colored magic that ensued stopped a war and changed the world.
Well here's a surprise
We're Back!
Good Morning Vietnam
Peace ... & ... Love
