Famous Lawyer Alan Graf Packs It Up, And Returns To The Farm

Visit Alan's Website Hippielawyer.com For More Information on Alan And The Farm!

It’s his mother’s fault, Alan Graf figures. No, he doesn’t mind seeking out a bit of attention. Can even use it to his advantage — and has, dozens of times over the years. Seeking attention, making noise, for no good reason other than to turn the spotlight on himself, is what Graf’s detractors — city leaders and others who’ve tangled with him over the years — call it, anonymously. He throws media bombs just to throw media bombs, they’ll say. Guerrilla theater. Guerrilla theater for positive change, is what Alan Graf calls it.

I am a hippie Catholic social activist who is spearheading an international movement to revert the derogatory name of a Minnesota river back to its Mdewakanton Dakota "Indian" name (Mdo-Te-Mini-Wakan), translated as Mouth (of river) + Water + Sacred. And I also have a related - world view behind the word wakan - globalization visionary mission.....

Greenpeace said its battles to frustrate the efforts of Japanese whalers would now be fought on the supermarket shelves.
The group is trying to turn consumer power against fishing companies that finance the whaling industry. Southern Ocean expedition leader Shane Rattenbury said logistically Greenpeace had to end their current campaign. "For a month now we have dogged, delayed and disrupted the whaling fleet in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary, and have no doubt that they have fallen far behind in their bid to slaughter 935 minke whales and 10 endangered fin whales," he said.

Lives in the Balance
Richie Havens

I've been waiting for something to happen
For a week or a month or a year
With the blood in the ink of the headlines
And the sound of the crowd in my ear
You might ask what it takes to remember
When you know that you've seen it before
Where a government lies to a people
And a country is drifting to war

And there's a shadow on the faces
Of the men who send the guns
To the wars that are fought in places
Where their business interest runs

On the radio talk shows and the T.V.
You hear one thing again and again
How the U.S.A. stands for freedom
And we come to the aid of a friend
But who are the ones that we call our friends
These governments killing their own?
Or the people who finally can't take any more
And they pick up a gun or a brick or a stone
There are lives in the balance
There are people under fire
There are children at the cannons
And there is blood on the wire

There's a shadow on the faces
Of the men who fan the flames
Of the wars that are fought in places
Where we can't even say the names

They sell us the President the same way
They sell us our clothes and our cars

They sell us every thing from youth to religion The same time they sell us our wars
I want to know who the men in the shadows are
I want to hear somebody asking them why
They can be counted on to tell us who our enemies are
But they're never the ones to fight or to die
And there are lives in the balance
There are people under fire
There are children at the cannons
And there is blood on the wire

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has proposed to apply massive amounts of pesticides to public lands in 17 Western states.
The BLM claims these pesticides need to be applied to forests, rangelands and aquatic areas in order to reduce the risk of fire and slow the spread of invasive weeds. Under the proposal 932,000 acres would undergo chemical application in 17 western states, including National Monuments and National Conservation areas.

Turning children into robots
Another view of the No Child Left Behind Act
by Rena Morningstar Blumberg

One of the joys of home schooling children is sharing the awe and wonder as they discover the miracles of life and logic. Nurturing inquisitive minds is as important for child development as healthy meals and a warm safe home.

The “No Child Left Behind” Act puts tremendous pressure on teachers to prepare their students to pass those yearly tests. When a child learns about Christopher Columbus’ discovery of America, they should also know about the slaughter, rape, torture and enslavement that Native Americans endured at the hands of the discoverers.

Did Columbus have the right to take over this “discovered” land, and bring enslaved Native American slaves back to Spain, or did the original inhabitants deserve some respect? Let’s talk about it,,.

Frank Zappa - Trouble Every Day

Well I'm about to get up sick
From watchin my t.v.
Been checkin out the news
Until my eyeballs fail to see
I mean to say that every day Is just another rotten mess
And when it's gonna change, my friend
Is anybody's guess
So I'm watching and I'm waiting
Hopin' for the best
Even think I go to praying

Every time I hear them sayin That there's no way to delay
That trouble comin' everyday
No way to delay
That trouble comin' every day

Wednesday I watched the riot
I've seen the cops out on the street
Watch them throwing rocks and stuff and choking in the heat
Listen to reports
About the whiskey passin' round
Seen the smoke and fire
And the market burnin' down
Watched while everybody on his street would take a turn
They stomp and smash and bash and crash and slash and bust 'n burn

And I'm watching and I'm waitin hopin' for the best
Even think I go to prayin'
Every time I hear em sayin'
That there's no way to delay
That trouble comin' every day
No way to delay
That trouble comin' everyday

You can cool it
You can heat it
Cause baby I don't need i
Take your t.v. tube and eat it
And all that phony stuff on sports
And all those unconfirmed reports
You know I watch that rotten box
Until my head begin to hurt
From checkin' out the way
The newsmen say they get the dirt
Before the guys on channel so and so
And further they assert
That any show they litter up
They bring you news if it comes up
They say that if the place blows up
They will be the first to tell
Cause the boys they got downtown
Working hard and doin swell
And if anybody gets the news
Before it hits the streets
They say that no one blams it faster
Their coverage can't be beat
And if another woman driver
Gets machine gunned from her seat
They'll send some joker with a brownie
And youll see it all complete

So I'm watching and I'm waiting

Hopin for the best Even think I go to praying
Every time I hear them saying
That there's no way to delay
That trouble comin' everyday
No way to delay
That trouble comin' every day

Well I've seen the fires burnin'
And the local people turnin'
All the merchants and the shops
Who use to sell their brooms and mops
And every other household item
Watch the mob just turn and bite em
And they say it serve them right
Because a few of them are white
And it's the same across the nation
Black and white discrimination
Yell and you can understand me
And all that other crap they hand me
In the papers and t.v.
And all that mass stupidity
That seems to grow more everyday
These time of year some asshole say
He wants to go and do you in
Cause the color of your skin
Just don't appeal to him
No matter if it's black or white
Because he's out for blood tonight

Cover-up News Summary
January 18, 2006

Will you help me protect our roadless forests? Earlier this year, the Bush administration announced their plans to completely repeal the Roadless Area Conservation Rule which protects nearly 60 million acres of our wild forests from destructive development. Repealing this rule will open our last few pristine forests to rampant clear-cutting, mining, and drilling.
We need your help to stop the Bush administration from selling off our roadless forests to the highest bidder. Will you join thousands of other Americans in signing the Citizen's Petition to Protect Our Roadless Areas? The deadline for this petition is THIS FRIDAY January 27, so please don't wait!
