Greetings, everyone: Last year, Julia and I were given a vision to organize Fires of Forgiveness:The Healing of the Nation concerts on the Hopi Indian Reservation in Arizona. On Sept. 12 this vision will become a reality. What better way to begin our national healing than with our “first people” who were known as the most peaceful and gentle of all the Native American Tribes. Jamaican recording artist Abijah, a truly conscious, One Love singer and songwriter, will be appearing at the Hopi concert. Then Abijah, Julia and I will be take the concert on tour to three additional states--VA, NC, and AR (see schedule below). Our band will be The Lions of Israel from Fayetteville, AR, an excellent reggae group who recently opened for both Luciano and Ziggy Marley (www.lionsofisrael.com). We will begin our tour on the Hopi Indian Reservation. Six free concerts is our gift to all the Hopi schools on Sept. 10, 11, and 12.. There will also be a concert on Sept.12 at 8PM at the Hopi Veterans Memorial Hall that will be open to the public. Please join us if you can. This is a very special part of our journey as the 900-year-old Hopi prophecy states that the purification of the planet will begin with the purification of their tribe. Many of the Hopi youths no longer know of this ancient prophecy. Karen Abieta (Sister Parrott), the local reggae DJ, has been working with us to organize these concerts. Also, Zema, another conscious reggae artist, will be appearing at our Hopiland concert (www.zemazema.com). While there, we will be encouraging the students to activate this tribal healing through their individual acts of One Love and forgiveness. This is the same message that we brought to the students in Jamaica, where we have held 30 similar concerts to over 30,000 youths since January. (The crime indexes have been dropping since then.)
